Welcome!
Welcome!
I am a post-doctoral Research Associate at the Princeton Niehaus Center for Globalization and Governance for AY2026-27. I study international political economy (IPE) and international relations (IR) with particular interests in the politics of finance, financial stability, inequality, and global financial governance. My book project focuses on how governments manage financial and economic stability in the global financial system. I map the modern global financial safety net and explain how domestic politics interact with demands from global market participants to influence governments' external financing strategies. The project demonstrates how the modern global financial safety net has expanded advanced economies' and wealthier emerging markets' ability to postpone structural adjustment, even at the cost of higher debt and greater economic precarity, while continuing to force adjustment on developing countries. I received my PhD from UW-Madison in 2026 as well as an MA in political science in 2020 from Harvard University. Beyond research and teaching, I coach competitive youth soccer and enjoy traveling, reading fiction, painting, and watching and playing sports. Please feel free to get in touch: amyren@princeton.edu.
